How your success will eventually make you a loser

How your success will eventually make you a loser

Throw your experience in the garbage

We are used to thinking that our working experience is an excellent asset for which we should pay money, but this is the very misconception that makes good specialists useless. And thanks to this delusion, many find themselves on the sidelines.

Why this happens?

In fact, the mechanism is very simple. An experienced specialist, especially if he has regalia and achievements, is usually sure that everything knows the best. After all, he has already achieved, proved … In general, all this is true, but exactly until the moment this experience begins to interfere with the introduction of innovations. But now everything is constantly changing, new technologies are appearing, etc. D.

Let’s look at Nokia. They were the best in the production of mobile phones and considered themselves so. They shouted that they were the first, everyone knows, so they should not change anything. As a result, they turned out to be sold. Now they produce smartphones of medium -sized lousiness either on Windows or that android.

Moral: Do not allow your experience, even extremely successful, to perceive innovation and introduce them into your work. Otherwise, you will lose it very soon (work), but with it all your regalia.

How to act correctly in this situation?

First (and this is the most important), not to be afraid of innovation. Look. Your experience and achievements are very cool, but it all “freezes” in the past. Roughly speaking, if you invented a bicycle, then you invented it in the past. Now that you need to invent a motorcycle, there is no sense in this past.

Secondly, understand that the new products do not threaten your past experience and achievements, but the future is threatened, so you need to treat them with all seriousness, without snobbery like “I know that …”.

Thirdly, do not give what you know, limit your imagination or your judgments. As mentioned above, your past merits have already “froze” in the past. Most likely, they are not so important for your future now. Therefore, do not give thoughts about the past to influence your plans and projects that have not yet started or are about to start. Perhaps times have already changed and you can find new, more effective approaches, instead of reproducing old.

Fourth, remember that there is such a thing as “blinding experience”. As a rule, experienced employees notice fewer details than those who have just started working in some field. Therefore, it is important to always look as a fresh look at what is happening around you.

In general, do not be snobs, learn new things and good luck to you!
