Hollywood chic in a house with a view of Los Angeles: a project by OSKLO studio

A Hollywood Regency home with an unusual history and breathtaking views of Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean is located on the street where Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Gere lived, and the building itself belonged to actor Michael York for almost five decades.

Arya and Michael Martin, co-founders of the architecture and design bureau OSKLO, created a cozy space with art and vintage accents. Calm earth tones and warm natural materials in the finish, diluted with marble, connect the interior with the surrounding landscape through panoramic windows.

The interior was created for a father and his daughter. The daughter’s favorite place was the kitchen, as the windows here offer views of the ocean and the opportunity to go straight to the terrace by the pool. The designers created a feeling of carefully selected luxury that does not overwhelm with its presence, but delicately draws attention to itself, bringing a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

To achieve this effect, they used a neutral palette with black, burgundy and green accents and a combination of natural stone with light oak trim and textured fabrics: velvet, mohair, bouclé and linen. “We like to mix details that reflect modern design with antique accents to make the house feel timeless,” says the OSKLO duo.
