It is believed that the best cooks are men. And it’s hard to argue with this, because in the list of the best chefs of the planet (and about two hundred) there will not be a dozen female names. Why this happens, because the kitchen is a traditionally female occupation?
Although this is not surprising, because recently women have successfully mastering construction professions, for example, they install seamless stretch ceilings. It’s not about abilities, but about career growth capabilities. The chef of the restaurant is, first of all, a position (although you can’t do without talent). Unfortunately, so far there is a tendency to prefer male candidates for leading posts.
When it comes to performing qualities, hard work and skill, they choose women. But, as soon as it comes to career growth (from the cook to the chef) – alas, the so -called “glass ceiling” works here: if the chef is a man. The culinary skill of women has been honed for millennia; Recipes and traditions of cooking to this day are transmitted from mother to daughter. And the very concept of national cuisine, if it has been preserved in the era of globalization, then only by the efforts of women who have been at the hearth for centuries.
The eminent chefs themselves admit that they produced their first experiments in the kitchen under the leadership of either mother or grandmother. So do not recklessly believe the beaten phrases, but it is better to supplement them: “The best cooks are men who were taught to cook women”.
