Great Britain is located on many islands of the British and Shetland archipelago, some of them are not populated, but belong to the territory of the country. Traditionally, the UK is called the United Kingdom of Great Britain and North Ireland. The country received such a name for the reason that the whole Ireland was once included in the UK, but then only the northern one remained, and most of Ireland was transformed into the Republic of Ireland. The United Kingdom is called the three countries located on the island of Great Britain – England, Scotland and Wales. In addition, near the island of Great Britain is the island of Maine, which is not customary to attribute to the British archipelago, and two islands of the Norman archipelago, which, although they have a common civil code with Great Britain, are essentially independent countries. To get on them, you need an internal English visa. On these islands, their own money. These islands and colonies have never been, unlike several islands and archipelags in the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Ocean, which now have the status of British overseas territories.
