The main feature of the style is the most open space, which is achieved by combining several rooms and removing massive partitions.
The bedroom, children’s room, bathroom and utility room remain secluded. The rest – the kitchen, living room, dining room, library and hallway – are usually combined into a single space, and color, light and finishing materials of different textures help to visually separate them.
The following can also be attributed to the features of the style:
- Zoning of a single room using arches and niches;
- Island furniture, i.e. its arrangement from the center, and not along the perimeter;
- Contrasting colors with a predominance of natural ones;
- Presentability (but not pretentiousness) of the decor;
- Practicality;
- Abundance of natural light, which is achieved through large windows.
