The Griffith Observatory was created with financial support from Jenkins Griffith and opened in 1935. It is one of the most popular attractions in Los Angeles.
he observatory is located on the southern slope of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park, named so because Jenkins Griffith donated this land to the city for the creation of the park and the construction of the observatory.
In the central planetarium, viewers are shown a 30-minute show “At the Center of the Universe”, revealing the secrets of the structure of space. In the observatory, you can also visit exhibition halls, where exhibits related to space are presented.
In good weather, you can see the city’s downtown, Hollywood and its sign from the observatory.
Telescopes are installed throughout the planetarium and on the observation decks, which anyone can use. In the evening, the roof of the observatory opens and all visitors can use the telescope.
